From early childhood to Year 5.

Two stages, with routines designed for each age and optional Extra Time until 6 pm.

Toddlers to K5 Ages 2–5

Early Childhood

A world in every discovery.

Young children learn through play. Connecting, observing and experimenting help them build relationships with others and their surroundings.

Learning centres bring together language, music, movement, nature and artistic expression. English and Portuguese are part of these experiences.

Stage highlights

  • Around 80% of the day in English, through immersion
  • Learning centres for language, logical reasoning, body and movement, nature and society, music and artistic expression
  • Four units of inquiry a year
  • Classrooms with their own bathroom, rest beds and materials within children's reach
  • Wooden playground, vegetable garden, woods and water circuit

Year 1 to Year 5 Ages 6–10

Elementary School

One question leads to another.

Inquiry introduces students to new ways of thinking. Concepts and content connect through projects and different forms of expression.

Researching, recording and sharing become part of the journey. In Year 5, a final project brings together learning from across the stage.

Stage highlights

  • Six units of inquiry a year, bringing History, Geography and Science together
  • Literacy with Portuguese taking the lead and literature as an ally
  • Robotics and computational thinking in the Design Lab
  • Assessment introduced gradually from Year 2, with no exam weeks
  • Cambridge English exams from Year 3
  • A culminating project at the end of Year 5

FAQ

Common questions about the stages.

  • From what age can children join Sphere?

    Early Childhood begins in Toddlers, for two-year-olds, and continues to K5, at age five.

  • Which year groups does the school offer?

    Today, from Early Childhood to Elementary School, up to Year 5. Middle School is coming soon.

  • Is there a full-day option?

    Yes. From K4, classes run from 8 am to 3:30 pm, and Extra Time extends the day until 6 pm. Toddlers and K3 attend from 8 am to 12:30 pm, with Extra Time options in the afternoon.

  • How is English used at each stage?

    In Early Childhood, around 80% of the day takes place in English. As children learn to read and write, Portuguese takes the lead. Throughout Elementary School, both languages remain languages of instruction.

  • How does assessment work?

    It is introduced gradually from Year 2, with continuous follow-up throughout each term and no exam weeks.

  • Who can collect my child from school?

    Students may only leave with their parents or guardians, or with people registered by them.
